Ramadan Lighting Ceremony Scheduled For March 20 In East Brunswick

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — The East Brunswick Human Relations Council and the Township will be hosting a Ramadan Lighting ceremony on March 20.

The 3rd Annual Ramadan Lighting Ceremony will take place 7:30 p.m. at the East Brunswick Municipal Pond.

A rain date is scheduled for Tuesday, March 21.

Ramadan is the holy month of fasting and introspection for Muslims across the globe. During the 30-day period, Muslims do not eat or drink from dawn to sunset, according to History.com.

The end of Ramadan is celebrated as Eid-al-Fitr, one of the major holidays in Islam.
