EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — A multiuse building is being proposed on the site of a now-shuttered Chinese restaurant on Route 18 in East Brunswick.

American Brothers Realty Inc. is seeking preliminary and final major site plan approval with variance relief to build a multiuse building at 1069 Route 18 South.

The developers are proposing a four-floor building that would contain retail and self-storage space, according to documents submitted to the Township.

The property, measuring around 3.7 acres, is located in the HC-2 General Highway Commercial District.

The applicant is proposing a building height of 41 feet where 35 feet is permitted. While retail is permitted in the zone, a storage facility is not.

The total parking required for the area is 95, whereas the applicant is proposing 110.

The Zoning Board is expected to hear the application at Thursday’s meeting. All the application details are available here.
