EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — A routine traffic stop on Rt. 18 Tuesday resulted in East Brunswick police arresting a man who was wanted for a double homicide in Puerto Rico.
At around 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, Patrolman Reginald Wright pulled over a white box truck on Rt. 18 near Tices Lane; he said he noticed the two passengers were not wearing seat belts. While speaking to the driver of the vehicle, Jose Jimenez-Castro, 28, of South Bound Brook, Ptl. Wright said he detected an odor of marijuana.
A search revealed both passengers to have pot on them, police said. The passenger, Jose Sanchez-Texidor, 32, also of South Bound Brook, initially gave Ptl. Wright a false name. Police searched his name and he was found to have an outstanding warrant out of Puerto Rico for a double homicide in 2006.
