Sayreville Man a Heroin Smuggler, Feds Charge
He tried to smuggle heroin into the U.S. from India, federal prosecutors say.

Sayreville, NJ - A Sayreville man was convicted by a federal jury Friday for trying to smuggle heroin into the country from India.
The jury deliberated for three hours before deciding that Adolphus Nwokedi, 47, was guilty, according to U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman.
The investigation began on December 11, 2013, when customs officers at JFK intercepted a parcel addressed to Nwokedi from India, and found 524 grams of heroin inside. Homeland Security officers set up a sting and delivered the package to Nwokedi’s office in Newark on Jan. 2. Nwokedi personally accepted the parcel and was subsequently arrested, according to the U.S. Attorney.
