'Sharp-Eyed Citizen' Helps Police Catch Alleged Shoplifter

The shoplifting happened at the East Brunswick Wal-Mart, police say.

East Brunswick, NJ - East Brunswick police thank a man who they say helped them identify a suspect who shoplifting more than $1,000 worth of electronics from the East Brunswick Wal-Mart on Rt. 18.

The theft happened February 8, police said, and the unknown man fled in a pickup truck with a snowplow and roof rack attached to it. Walmart’s surveillance system captured the man and his truck, but not the license plate.

Police released the stills on Facebook, and one "sharp-eyed citizen" called in to report that he had seen the truck in Old Bridge on his way to work, Lt. Kevin Zebro said.

Det. Joe Bauer and Det. Lt. Mike Plaskon investigated, and a warrant was issued for Joshua Chism, 29, of Jamesburg. He was arrested by East Brunswick Detectives at home, Zebro said. He stole five wireless routers, police charge.
