Sign Up For 'Do Not Knock' Registry In East Brunswick

Community members can include their residences on a 'Do Not Knock registry' to curtail unwanted solicitations.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — If you are looking to curtail unwanted commercial solicitations, here's your chance.

The township is reminding residents to sign up for the 'Do Not Knock' registry. This will relieve them from unwanted commercial solicitations, hawking, inquiries and general disturbances from commercial solicitors, itinerant peddlers, hawkers, and canvassers. Township officials say this is not new and refers to an ordinance adopted on May 6, 2013.

This ordinance does not apply to political, charitable, or religious materials or solicitations. These activities are protected by the US constitution.

The “Do Not Drop” registry will give residents the option to avoid dropping of unsolicited or non-subscribed printed material and unwanted commercial printed material at their homes. These materials require obtaining a permit from the clerk’s office.

Such solicitors would be given the 'Do Not Knock' list when they apply for a permit. Residents can register at the Clerk’s office, via regular mail or by email to the Township Clerk.
