Silver Bullets Make State Finals
Team Porto drops final after two extra periods and penalty kicks.

It was a big year for the U-17 Porto soccer team.
The Central New Jersey Silver Bullets Soccer Club team was NJYS State cup Finalists, and dominated their opponents along the way.
The squad won the early round vs. Highland Galaxy by a score of 5-1. Porto then went on to win the quarterfinal match vs. NJ Rangers Olympians by a score of 3-1. On May 21, in the semifinals, Porto beat the West Jersey Comets by a score of 3-0. This all culminated in one of the best matches of the season for the finals vs. Rancocas Valley Blaze on May 22.

Porto struck first and scored a goal in the first half. Blaze came back in the second half with two goals. With 30 seconds left to go in the game, Porto scored again off a corner kick and forced the game into the mandatory two fifteen minute overtime periods. At the end of the additional 30 minutes of play, the game was still tied 2-2 and went on to penalty kicks.
Three of the five designated players from both teams scored their PK shots, so the progression continued. However, Porto missed its PK and the Blaze scored theirs, giving that team the win in one of the most intense final matches in the NJYS State Cup this year.
