South River Hit By Rash Of Car Thefts

SOUTH RIVER, NJ — South River has been hit by a rash of car thefts that started this summer, police there announced on Thursday, Jan. 4.
Since July of 2017, four cars have been stolen from South River homes, police said. All four vehicles stolen were older model, two-door Hondas. In each case, the vehicle was locked, secured and parked in front of the victim's home or in their driveway.
Two of the vehicles stolen have since been recovered outside of South River. South River is a tiny, quaint town but it is not immune to crime: This past December, a man posing as a water utility employee talked his way inside an elderly woman's home. That happened Wednesday, Dec. 20 at a home off Burton Avenue. The woman became nervous, called 911 and the man ran off. Read that story: Man Posing As Water Company Rep Gets Inside South River Home
