South River Junior Police Academy Is This Summer
It will be held at the South River middle school from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. from July 10 to July 20. Open to 6th, 7th and 8th graders.

SOUTH RIVER, NJ - Attention, elementary and middle school parents: The South River Police Department will be hosting its 10th annual Junior Police Academy! If your child has ever wondered what it is like to be a police officer or what they do, this is their chance to find out!
The academy is open to all residents of South River who are scheduled to attend 6th, 7th or 8th grade in the fall of 2017. Instruction will be held at the South River middle school on weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. starting July 10 and ending July 20. Meet the police officers, talk on a police radio, learn criminal and motor vehicle laws, investigate a crime scene, collect evidence, conduct motor vehicle stops, see the inside of a real jail and more.
This eight-day academy will be taught by South River police officers and has previously included visits to the New Jersey State Police Museum, a real, working criminal laboratory and a tour of an actual adult police academy.

To participate in this exciting educational experience, pick up an application at South River police headquarters Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. If you have any questions or need more information, please contact Diane Nale at 732-257-6727 ext 102. Cadets will be chosen on a first-come, first-served basis and class size is limited to 25 cadets. Returning cadets will not automatically receive preference over new applicants. Applications must be returned prior to June 2.
