Suspicious Package Evacuates East Brunswick Air Force Recruitment Center
Breaking: A paper shopping bag with a tiki torch bottle containing an unknown liquid was placed outside the front door Monday morning.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — The Air Force recruitment center in East Brunswick had to be evacuated Monday morning after someone left a suspicious package outside its front door, local police said.
East Brunswick police were called to the Air Force recruitment renter on R. 18 south at 10:34 a.m. Monday for a suspicious package located in front of the building. A large brown paper shopping bag was found in front of the building, which contained a tiki torch bottle containing an unknown liquid sticking out of the top of the bag, Lt. Sean Goggins said.
The building was evacuated. East Brunswick Independent Fire Company and Atlantic Rescue Squad arrived and were placed on standby. Members of the New Jersey State Police bomb unit and East Brunswick OEM were called in, and State Police evaluated the package. It was deemed safe.

East Brunswick police do not think this was a homemade bomb, Lt. Goggins said. They have no suspects at this time and are reviewing all available camera footage.

The Middlesex County Sheriff’s Department also responded with a K-9, according to Lt. Goggins.
