Teen Pulled Over On Rt. 18/Tices Lane Had Stolen Handgun
A 17-year-old stopped on Rt. 18 Monday night was found to be in possession of a handgun that had been reported stolen in Georgia.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — A 17-year-old stopped on Rt. 18 Monday night was found to be in possession of a handgun that had been reported stolen in Georgia, police said.
East Brunswick patrolman Matthew Kole pulled the car over at 10:56 p.m. Monday, July 2 after witnessing multiple motor vehicle violations in the area of Rt. 18 and Tices Lane, police said. Upon speaking with the driver, 17, who also did not have a license, Patrolman Kole said he detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the car.
A search of the car found the teen to be in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun and a quantity of marijuana. Further investigation revealed the handgun had been reported stolen from Georgia. The teen male was from Franklin Twp.

The teen was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of a firearm while committing a controlled dangerous offense, possession of a high -capacity magazine, possession of hollow point ammunition, possession of stolen property and possession of marijuana under 50 grams.
The juvenile was lodged at the Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Center.
