EBPLay Media Lab & Final Cut Pro
Saturday, May 31 * 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Library is embracing the "maker culture" by creating a new space and giving you tools to bring your creativity to the next level. In May, the Library will unveil the EBPLay Media Lab, which will include five Mac computer work stations, all with Final Cut Pro, digital editing software, so that patrons of all ages can edit and produce their own movie masterpieces.

The library was awarded $7,500 to help fund this Mobile Project initiative by the New Jersey State Library and LibraryLinkNJ, the New Jersey Library Cooperative whose services are funded by the New Jersey State Library, which is responsible for the coordination, promotion, and the New Jersey Library Network.
East Brunswick Public Library Offers Zinio eMagazines free to Cardholders
Now you can pick up a magazine any time and read it for free on your tablet, smartphone or computer. The East Brunswick Public Library has purchased a subscription to Zinio eMagazines, an online newsstand of popular magazines. Library cardholders can enjoy 54 of the most popular magazines spanning fashion, cooking, home, business, gardening, crafts and more, all from their Apple and Android mobile devices, Kindle, Mac, or PC. Magazines such as Men’s Fitness, Family Circle, Forbes, Newsweek, Oprah, U.S. Weekly, Entertainment Weekly, ESPN and more are available, all you need is a library card.
Click on the Zinio icon on the Library website to register and start downloading your favorite magazines. Call the Information Desk at 732-390-6767 for questions or to arrange for one-on-one assistance from a librarian.
Friends Spring Meeting: Gardening Tips with Clara Rivera-Pacheo
Thursday, May 8 * 7:30 p.m.
Do you have gardening and landscaping questions? Come to the library for answers. Clara Rivera-Pacheco will offer ideas and best practices on selection, planting and maintenance of popular New Jersey perennials and annuals. Ask your gardening questions, get handouts of tips and suggestions and perhaps win a plant to take home with you. Rivera-Pacheco is finishing the Rutgers’ Master Gardeners program. She is an active volunteer at Rutgers Gardens and consults on landscaping projects.
This free program is part of the Friends of the Library’s Spring Meeting.
League of Legends Tournament
Friday, May 9 * 5:30 - 9:30 p.m.
Get ready for the next League of Legends Tournament! New, BETTER prizes! Bragging rights! Cosplay! Join us for a Legen....wait for it....DARY night at the library! The tournament will be held after-hours at the library Registration is REQUIRED for this event! The cost of attendance is $5 at the door. Saturday Stitch Drop-In Session with Sandy Kandel

Whether you do knitting, crochet, needlepoint, counted crossstitch, embroidery or other needlework, come drop in at your convenience for tips and enjoy Sandy's expert advice and the comraderie of fellow crafters. There will be a sign-in sheet, and Sandy will give one-on-one advice in order of the sign-ins. All levels welcome.
Healing Without Medicine: from pioneers to modern practice Author talk by Albert Amao, PhD

Is mind healing myth or fact? Have you ever wondered how people have been healed from “incurable” diseases without medicine? Can a person be restored to health through the mind? World Party! Short Story Discussion Group

Short stories are popular the world over - so join us for a new discussion group with a focus on multicultural authors and stories. Every other month we'll be meeting to discuss an individual story. The Friends Community Yard Sale
Saturday, May 17 • 9–1 p.m.

They say that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. “Treasure”-hunters and bargain-hunters alike will want to attend The Friends of the Library’s Community Yard Sale to find a few hidden gems. Refreshments will be sold and indoor restrooms will be available. Charity truck will arrive at 1 p.m. to take away unsold items and provide a tax receipt.

Developing A Successful Business Plan
Thursday, May 22, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The most common mistake a new business makes is failure to do a business plan. A solid business plan is your roadmap to success and a critical tool for funding. This seminar will discuss how to design an effective plan for your business and document that plan for investors and other interested parties. It reviews the components of a business plan and how to ensure that it's various parts "fit together." It emphasizes the importance of break-even analysis and niche marketing.

Phil Rhodes has 40 years experience in information systems consulting, software product management and marketing. He also served as the Corporate Manager of Business Planning for a company with 28 operating divisions and while in that position developed business planning and venture analysis software tools.
Teen Talent Show
Saturday, June 21 * 2 p.m.
Submission Accepted Between May 1 and June 1
The Teen Advisory Group will be hosting a Teen Talent Show at the library on Saturday, June 21 at 2 p.m. Students are encouraged to showcase their talent on stage at the Library. There will be cash prizes for the 1st and 2nd place winners! The School of Rock House Band will perform! Interested performers must be between 10 and 19 years old and submit their performance on video between May 1 and June 1. Performers will be notified after June 1 of their acceptance to the show. Teen Library Connection
Applications for the TLC volunteer program are available now at the Teen and YS desks. The TLC program is open to students entering 8th, 9th and 10th grade in the fall. This year, teens are asked to volunteer at the library for one week during the summer to work on innovative and exciting programming for the Youth Services department. Teens interested in working with and creating fun activities for children as well as the end of summer carnival should fill out an application and return it to the library by Monday, May 19.
Applications will be accepted through a lottery system and attendance for the program costs $25. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance by May 30.
