Woman, 83, Killed By Car In Sayreville Wednesday

She was crossing Main Street in the area of Pulaski Avenue when she was struck by a car driven by an 87-year-old man, also from Sayreville.

SAYREVILLE, NJ — An 83-year-old woman was hit and killed by a car Wednesday afternoon, July 25, in Sayreville, police confirmed to Patch.

Cecelia Dunn, 83, was crossing Main Street in the area of Pulaski Avenue when she was struck by a car driven by an 87-year-old man, also from Sayreville, Capt. Dan Plumacker of the Sayreville police department said.

He was driving a 2007 Lincoln town car. There is not a crosswalk or traffic light in that area, he said. She was clearly in the roadway she was hit, he said.

She was rushed by Sayreville EMS to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital but pronounced dead at the hospital. The driver was not charged and it does not appear he will be charged, Capt. Plumacker said.
