Thanks to a grant from the New Jersey Humanities Council, the Raritan Valley YMCA is presenting a series of educational and cultural events each Friday, highlighting the many wonderful cultures that make up the fabric of our community. The events are taking place outdoors at the Raritan Valley YMCA on Tices Lane every Friday this Summer between 4pm - 6pm.

On Friday, July 22 there are performances from India. The performances include singers from the Hindi Association, a traditional Indian dance (Bharatnatyam and Kathak) troupe, and the Rutgers Bhangra Group performing Bhangra Dance. Children in the Y's summer day camp will be involved in art, educational, and other humanistic learnings of India. The event provides every child with exposure to a different and a very colorful culture. Other programs include:

Our vision of the Beyond all Barriers (FOSTERING INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION

THROUGH MUSICAL EXCHANGES) is to overcome accessibility issues to humanities programs.

Through these program efforts, we can be catalysts that shape young people to thrive and connect to the humanities, via experiential and reflective activities in an inclusive environment that also helps aid recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
