You Oughta Know - Alanis Morisette's "Jagged Little Pill” Makes it to Playhouse 22

Massive Hit Broadway Musical Runs June 12 - 28

EAST BRUNSWICK – A musical featuring the music of Alanis Morissette’s 1995 iconic album with the same name, “Jagged Little Pill” tells the story of the Healy family, who appear to be living a picture-perfect suburban life in Connecticut, but are actually dealing with a multitude of problems. The musical explores themes of addiction, trauma, sexual assault, identity, and healing.
The musical includes lyrics by Ms. Morissette with music by her and Glen Ballard and book by Diablo Cody.
“Jagged Little Pill” began previews on Broadway in November 2019, but closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It reopened on October 21, 2021, and closed on December 17, 2021. For the 74th Tony Awards, the show won two awards on 15 nominations, the most nominations of any show of the 2019–20 season. It also won the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.

Playhouse 22’s production is jointly directed by Jennifer Moffett and Jeff Seesselberg with music direction by Francois Suhr and choreography by Raven Abbott.

The show contains sexual assault/rape, opioid and prescription drug abuse, depression, eating disorders, and themes of racism and queer marginalization. Because of this heavy subject matter, it is generally recommended for audiences ages 16 and older.

The show runs June 12 - 28 with performances on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m.; and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets are $24/adults and $22/seniors and students and are available on the theater’s website at Playhouse22.org or by calling the Box Office at (732) 254-3939.
