East Hanover Police Applicants Move To Testing Phase

EAST HANOVER, NJ — East Hanover has closed applications for probationary police officers, and the hiring process is moving into its testing phase.

The hiring process matters to residents because its outcome will help shape the Police Department’s staffing and local public-safety services.

Applicants will take a physical-agility test at 8 a.m. Sunday, September 13, at Hanover Park High School, 63 Mount Pleasant Avenue. The evaluation includes a 300-meter run, pull-ups, push-ups, sit-ups and a 1.5-mile run.

A written examination follows at 6 p.m. Thursday, September 17, at the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy, 500 West Hanover Avenue in Parsippany. Registration begins at 5 p.m. The township notice labels that date Wednesday.

Candidates must bring two forms of identification and two No. 2 pencils. Cellphones, smartwatches, food and beverages are prohibited. “No study guides will be offered,” the township said.
