Florham Park Police Chief Retires

FLORHAM PARK, NJ — After 25 years of service, Florham Park Police Chief Robert M. Treiber is retiring.

Treiber joined the FPPD in 1993 as a patrol officer. He was promoted to Detective in 1999, Detective Sergeant in 2003, Detective Lieutenant in 2005, and Captain in 2008. He was made police chief in 2015.

Chief Treiber earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from New Jersey City University and a Master of Administrative Science Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Chief Treiber is a State of New Jersey Certified Public Manager (CPM) and a 2012 graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy located in Quantico, VA.

Throughout the course of his career Chief Treiber has earned numerous awards and commendations, most notably the 2002 Morris County Detectives Association "Detective of the Year" award for his work in securing a confession from suspect Novis Parker who murdered his girlfriend, Tiffany Bratton, on the campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University; and the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) "Officer of the Year" award for his work in assisting the United States Secret Service in dismantling a Nigerian based counterfeit check ring responsible for cashing over one hundred thousand dollars in counterfeit checks throughout the Tri-State area.

As a detective, Chief Treiber was assigned to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office Narcotics Task Force, where he operated in an undercover capacity, and the New Jersey State Police Organized Crime Task Force where he assisted in "Operation Blue Collar", an operation that resulted in the arrest of 20 members of the North Jersey based Genovese Crime Family.
