Early Morning Garage Fire Breaks Out In Mercer Co. Home

Multiple fire departments responded to the blaze on Darrow Drive, which caused minimal damage to the home.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — A structure fire broke out in a detached garage on Darrow Drive in Hopewell Township early Tuesday morning, according to the Hopewell Township Police Department.

Police received a 911 call at approximately 5:01 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 4, from nearby residents reporting that a vehicle parked in the garage was on fire, along with the garage itself. Responding officers and fire personnel found the garage fully involved with smoke and flames upon arrival.

Fire crews, under the command of Pennington Fire Department Assistant Chief Ingram, worked to extinguish the blaze. The Pennington Fire Department was assisted by Hopewell Valley Emergency Services, Hopewell Fire Department, Union Fire Company, Lawrence Township Fire Department, Princeton Fire Department and Hopewell EMU.

The residence sustained minimal exterior damage from exposure to the garage fire. The home was occupied at the time, and no injuries were reported. A preliminary investigation found nothing suspicious, police said.

The source of the fire remains under investigation by the county fire marshal and Hopewell Valley Emergency Services.
