EAST WINDSOR, NJ — Trenton RiverFest will return this fall, once again combining RiverFest and Trenton River Days into a single free event celebrating the Delaware River.
The event, presented by the Trenton Thunder, Mercer County and The Watershed Institute, will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, offering free admission and free parking, according to organizers.
This year's celebration carries added significance as the nation prepares to mark the 250th anniversary of George Washington's crossing of the Delaware, organizers said.
In the Trenton Thunder's front plaza, attendees can take part in educational games and exhibits from Mercer County, The Watershed Institute and the city of Trenton, canoe and boat rides, live music, hayrides courtesy of Mercer County's Howell Living History Farm, and fly fishing demonstrations from the Ernest Schwiebert Chapter of Trout Unlimited, according to organizers.
Inside Trenton Thunder Ballpark, attendees can enjoy food featuring Trenton's Case's Pork Roll, craft beer selections, and live music from local bands including Modern Mojo. The ballpark will also host the ninth annual Trenton Thunder World Famous Case's Pork Roll Eating Championship, a 10-minute, Major League Eating-sanctioned competition, according to organizers.
"We are incredibly excited to partner with Mercer County to continue this enhanced RiverFest experience," Trenton Thunder General Manager Jon Bodnar said in a statement. "By combining RiverFest and River Days, we're offering our community an even bigger and better celebration of Trenton, the Delaware River, and all the wonderful things our region has to offer. This year, we're once again offering free admission and free parking to ensure everyone can join in the fun!"

"Mercer is always looking for ways to bring our community together, and this celebration of our Delaware River offers great family fun, while honoring the natural bounty that gave rise to our Capital City."
Jim Waltman, executive director of The Watershed Institute, said the event helps connect families with the importance of protecting local water resources.

"Events like this help us connect with families and individuals of all ages in a fun, engaging way while highlighting the critical need to protect our water resources.
