The document also says Hispanic Americans "have enriched the American way of life by participating in all aspects, including scholars, entrepreneurs and public servants." It says they "have provided important insights, energy and leadership to our communities and Country."

The proclamation encourages "all residents to celebrate the countless contributions of Hispanic Americans in our community by observing and participating in the many appropriate programs, ceremonies and activities during this special month-long celebration."

Mironov said the township values the diversity of its residents.

"The diversity of our community is a great source of strength, making us healthier and more understanding, and presents a great opportunity to learn more about other people's background and culture," she said. "We enjoy engaging in events and celebrations of different groups in our town and recognize the value that each person brings to our community."
