Assault By Auto, Accomplice Theft, Identity Theft: East Windsor Police

The following is a summary of incidents as reported by East Windsor Police:

On July 16 an officer arrested the defendant for a Trenton warrant following a motor vehicle stop. The 44-year-old was released on her own recognizance.

On July 18, an officer arrested an East Windsor resident for driving under the influence following a motor vehicle stop. The 45-year-old was released in accordance with John’s Law.

On July 18, at 11:07 p.m., an officer responded to the intersection of Route 33/Twin Rivers Drive for a report of a motor vehicle collision involving an overturned vehicle. The driver of the overturned vehicle was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The at-fault driver, an East Windsor resident, fled the scene on foot and was located nearby. The 22-year-old was placed under arrest after failing field sobriety tests and ultimately transported to Mercer County Corrections pending a court hearing.

On July 19 an officer arrested a 50-year-old for a Pennsauken warrant following a call for a parking complaint. The Ewing resident was released on his own recognizance.

On July 21, an officer arrested an East Windsor resident for East Windsor and Plainsboro warrants following a motor vehicle stop. The 53-year-old was turned over the custody of the Plainsboro Police.

On July 22, A 36-year-old Wayne woman was charged with identity theft and theft after police say she used a victim's identity to cash a state Treasury check and obtained a driver's license under the victim's name.

According to East Windsor Police, the investigation began on March 29, when the victim was contacted by the New Jersey State Park Police after officers located a New Jersey driver's license bearing the victim's information — but with a photo of a different person. The victim also reported that a Department of Treasury check made payable to them had been cashed by an unauthorized person on March 23. The woman was charged on a complaint summons with theft of identity and theft, pending court action.

On July 23, East Windsor Police charged a Brooklyn, New York man with accomplice theft in connection with a rented backhoe and trailer that were never returned to a local Home Depot. According to police, Home Depot management at 739 Route 33 reported on June 26, that a John Deere backhoe and an MMDI trailer had been rented and not returned. The trailer was later recovered by Poughkeepsie Police in New York on July 7. The man was charged on a complaint summons with accomplice theft, pending court action, according to police.
