Please join me in trying to change years of upward taxes in Hightstown.

My name is George Serrano, candidate in the Republican column for Hightstown Borough Council. I hope you and your family have made out alright during and after the storm.
Tuesday is Election Day. Please join me in trying to change years of upward taxes in Hightstown.
I see how tight on spending the Borough is already. The way I see it there are only two ways that stand a chance of working. Firstly, we need to seriously start exploring having a merged town with East Windsor. Let's have a permanent committee of only citizens that will closely look at ways that merger would be good for both towns. Let's invite a group of East Windsor citizens to look at it with us. If the idea has a lot of support, then we can make it happen, but it has to start somewhere. This is simple. Why isn't everybody talking about this? I do believe this is the way to go, and if elected, at the first meeting in January, I will ask Council to join me in creating this first step. And if they say No, I'll create my own committee of citizens, and we'll look at merger. I'm not ready yet to say that merger is the way to go. I just want to begin studying it and see where it goes. I don't see anyone else doing it, and it's about time.

And secondly, I want the State of New Jersey to come to Hightstown and help us study why we have high taxes and what we can do about it. I will go to Trenton and ask for an appointment with who ever will listen, starting with our representatives. If they're our representatives, why haven't we asked them to help us?
Put me to work for you. Thanks.
