I am not only a mom myself...I know a lot of women who are.
And almost everyone of us is guilty of one thing...we ignore our own stuff, particularly where our health is concerned. Our kids? Our families? To the doctor, instantly whenever something seems off. Us? Not so much. "It's nothing". "I don't have time". Or my personal mantra..."But I HATE doctors". Ladies? Since we end up being the lynchpin/cornerstone of our family's lives...why do we dismiss OUR needs (not wants) to the nth degree?
You love your family? Great. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF. Don't ignore pains, even little ones. Don't skip regular check ups. Regard your health with the same loving care and attention you do your family...because you are a part of it! Iknow women who are careful to eat the right foods, exercise...all the requirements. But then skip pap smears and mammograms without a second thought. You will take your kid to get a freckle checked...but ignore a mole on your back.

It's not selfish to make sure everything is working. It's not "self indulgent" to keep up with the basic care and maintance of the human mother. Stress takes a toll. And compared to the "good old days", our stress levels are huge. The best present you can give your family is a healthy, happy you. So how about it ladies? No more excuses. No more quietly defering to soccer practices, or dance recitals. No more "But really, it's nothing.".
