Burlington County Man Pleads Guilty to Robbing Nine Banks, Including One in East Windsor

Shalir Hall admitted to robbing nine banks, including seven with another, unnamed individual.

An Edgewater Park man who was arrested in January in connection with the robbery of a PNC Bank in East Windsor pleaded guilty to robbing a total of nine banks in South Jersey from September of 2013 through January of 2014, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced on Friday.

Shalir Hall, 21, pleaded guilty to an information charging him with nine counts of bank robbery.

Hall allegedly entered the PNC Bank in East Windsor on Jan. 8 at about 2 p.m, showed the teller a note demanding money and threatened to shoot her if she did not comply.

He admitted to robbing the Beneficial Savings Bank in Willingboro on Sept. 27, 2013, by threatening and intimidating bank employees, demanding money and then fleeing the bank.

He then joined forces with another person and the two went on to commit seven additional robberies in New Jersey – taking turns alternating between going into the banks and staying in the getaway vehicle.

Hall committed the Dec.17, 2013 robbery of Columbia Savings Bank in Maple Shade on his own.

Other robberies included Beneficial Savings Bank in Willingboro on Nov. 14 and Nov. 26, 2013; PNC Bank in Mount Laurel on Nov. 29, 2013; Third National Bank in Delran on Dec. 12, 2013; Roma Bank in Delran on Dec. 12, 2013; and TD Bank in Bellmawr on Jan. 8, the same day he admitted to robbing the PNC Bank in East Windsor.

Hall was arrested in Newark on Jan.15, 2014, and has been detained on charges filed by the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office since his arrest.

The charges to which Hall pleaded guilty each carry a maximum potential penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Hall’s plea agreement also requires him to make full restitution to each of the banks. Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 27, 2015.

Fishman credited special agents of the FBI, under the direction of Special Agents In Charge Aaron T. Ford and Edward J. Hanko in Newark and Philadelphia, respectively. He also credited the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and the Burlington County Prosecutor=s Office; the Burlington County Sheriff’s Department Warrant Unit; and the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force; as well as the East Windsor Township Police Department, Willingboro Police Department, Maple Shade Police Department, Delran Township Police Department, Mount Laurel Police Department, Philadelphia Police Department and the Hazelton, Pennsylvania Police Department for their work leading to the guilty plea.
