Child Killed In Tractor-Trailer Crash On The Turnpike
NJSP say the Freightliner then struck a second vehicle before leaving the roadway; two drivers were hospitalized with moderate injuries.
EAST WINDSOR, NJ - A juvenile passenger was killed early Tuesday morning in a three-vehicle crash on the New Jersey Turnpike in East Windsor Township, state police said.
Troopers responded to the crash at 1:29 a.m. on the Turnpike's south outer roadway at milepost 68.4 in Mercer County.
According to a preliminary investigation, a Subaru passenger vehicle carrying a juvenile rear-seat passenger was traveling south when a Freightliner tractor-trailer struck the rear of the vehicle.

The Freightliner then struck the rear of a Volvo box truck before veering off the roadway to the left and hitting the guardrail.
The child in the Subaru sustained fatal injuries. The age and gender of the child were not released by state police. The drivers of the Subaru and the Freightliner both sustained moderate injuries and were transported to an area hospital. No other injuries were reported.
