East Windsor Council Replaces Daniels
Council adds Yeager and makes Lippman new deputy mayor.

The East Windsor Township Council made two important appointments Tuesday night, which include some familiar faces.
Members were of longtime residents by the East Windsor Democratic Municipal Committee to fill the vacant seat of council member – Peter V. Yeager, John Zoller and Michael Shifman. The council voted unanimously to select Yeager.
Council member Marc Lippman was nominated and selected by the committee, also unanimously, to serve as the new deputy mayor, a position he had previously held in 2009. Lippman has served the council in one capacity or another for more than 16 years.

These selections come in the wake of the of former Deputy Mayor Walter T. Daniels Jr., who was a 15-year council veteran. He left the position on March 22 following of driving while intoxicated, allegedly attempting to ask Hightstown Police officers to downgrade his charges and making calls to their superiors following his March 1 arrest.
“We are very fortunate to have such talent,” Municipal Democratic Chair and East Windsor Mayor Janice Mironov said of all the nominees who were selected at Tuesday's meeting.

Councilman Perry Shapiro, who nominated Lippman to the position, said that Lippman has done a fine job in serving the township. Of the three candidates for the council position, he added, “I think all three are outstanding people. Peter Yeager has a long history of experience.”
Yeager, who is on a business trip in Idaho, said in a statement read by Mayor Mironov, “I am looking forward to continuing the progress this council has made in areas such as our open space, parks and recreation and attracting businesses that can provide the products and services we look for, all while doing so in a fiscally responsible manner.”
“I am very proud of the direction that the council has taken and also of its many accomplishments,” Lippman said. “We have accomplished a lot, including preserving open space, improving township parks and recreation and overall working on improving the quality of life for our residents. And, we have done this in a frugal manner.”
Yeager will take the oath of office at the council’s next meeting on April 26.
