East Windsor Named Tree City USA Community
The township will hand out tree seedlings on Saturday.

EAST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, NJ — East Windsor Township has been named a Tree City USA Community for 2016 by the Arbor Day Foundation, the township said Friday morning. The recognition is due to the township’s commitment to community forestry. It is the 17th year the township has earned this designation.
- having a tree board or department;
- a tree-care ordinance;
- a comprehensive community forestry program; and
- an Arbor Day observance.
The program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service.
Additionally, the township will promote Arbor Day with free distribution of tree seedlings on Saturday, May 6. The distribution will run from 10 am to noon, or until supplies run out.

The Norway Spruce "Picea abies" tubelings will be available on a first-come first-serve basis at the East Windsor Police Athletic League fields on Airport Road.
Rain date is May 13.
