East Windsor’s New Reusable Bag Will Be Designed By A High School Student

The winning entry must capture East Windsor's commitment to sustainability and the environment.

EAST WINDSOR, NJ — High school students in East Windsor Township have until April 13 to enter a design competition for the town's new reusable shopping bag.

The winning design set to appear at this year's National Night Out and other community events.

The contest, announced by the township Thursday, asks students to create original artwork that highlights environmental themes and promotes sustainability in East Windsor.

Entries must also incorporate the township logo and include a list of Mayor Janice S. Mironov and the six members of the Township Council.

The first-place winner will receive a gift card, have their design printed on the bags distributed by the Environmental Commission, and be recognized at a Township Council meeting.

"Through this competition, we encourage our high school students to focus on promoting the importance of and approaches to sustainability and community engagement," Mironov said in a statement. "We look forward to seeing the unique ideas and artistic talent of our high school students promoting the environment."

Submissions will be judged on creativity and how well the design communicates an environmental and sustainability message on behalf of the township.

Students must submit their name, grade level and phone number along with their design by Monday, April 13. Entries can be emailed to deputyclerk@east-windsor.nj.us or dropped off in person at the Municipal Building, 16 Lanning Blvd.
