East Windsor Schools Closed Due To Blizzard; County, State Offices Also Shut

A state of emergency is in effect across New Jersey.

EAST WINDSOR, NJ — The East Windsor Regional School District will close all schools Monday, due to an impending winter storm. The Kidcare Program and all after-school activities have also been canceled, the district announced.

A major winter storm is bringing blizzard conditions across New Jersey, prompting Gov. Mikie Sherrill to declare a state of emergency. The National Weather Service forecast 10 to 20 inches of snow, with the heaviest snowfall expected Sunday night into Monday morning. Wind gusts in coastal counties could reach 55 mph, with snowfall rates possibly exceeding 2 inches per hour.

A wide range of government offices and facilities in the region will also be closed Monday. All New Jersey state offices and all Mercer County offices — including the Mercer County Board of Social Services — will be shut down. Hightstown Borough offices will also be closed.

The Mercer County Park Commission and all Mercer County Library System branches will be closed, including the Hickory Corner Branch Library, the Twin Rivers Library and the Hightstown Library. All items due Monday, Feb. 23 will now be due Tuesday, Feb. 24.

Mercer County Technical Schools and the Mercer County Special Services School District will also be closed Monday.

Officials are urging residents to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly overnight and into Monday morning, and to use extreme caution if travel is unavoidable.
