East Windsor Township Council Candidate Profile: Steve Commer

Patch posed a series of questions to each candidate.

Name: Steve Commer
Party: Republican
Running for:
Four year term

Why are you running for Township Council?
I’m a proponent of our founding fathers. I feel that its time to give back to your community. Our founding fathers turned around, like George Washington, Jefferson, and went into politics to do they job they should do, and then they turned around and went back to their farms and other businesses. It’s connected with being a career politician. We’ve had a one party system in this town for many years and maybe a new person, or a republican, can give a change in the way things are done.

What are three issues most important to you and why?

1. Play to pay: I think we have to upgrade our town play to pay ordinance.

2. Help the seniors and hopefully try to get them that are on a fixed income to get by.

3. Try not to have career politicians:  All the people who have been in there have been in there for years. It really hasn’t gotten us anywhere, especially with the state and so forth, and the federal government, so maybe we could do a little changing around in the town.

Why should residents vote for you?
I don’t plan on taking any benefits or any pensions because I don’t plan on being a career Politian, but I will do the best possible job I can. And I am on a fixed income, being a senior, and I feel I can turn around and know what you have to do to stay on budget.
