Firefighters Douse Brush Fire Near Apartments In East Windsor

Crews connected hundreds of feet of supply lines and battled the blaze for hours on Monday, authorities said.

EAST WINDSOR, NJ - The Hightstown Fire Company battled a "significant" brush fire near an apartment complex in East Windsor on Monday.

The Hightstown Engine Company 1 responded to the wooded area between Monroe and Twin Rivers on reports of a brush fire, authorities said.

Crews connected hundreds of feet of supply lines that stretched further "hundreds of feet into the wooded area."

"The fire was wind-driven eastbound so companies took a two-pronged attack chasing from behind and attacking it head-on," Hightstown Engine Company 1 said.

Various fire companies collaborated to bring the blaze under control. The New Jersey Forest Fire division remained on scene for hours to overhaul the remaining hot spots.
