New Jersey property owners have been hard-hit when it comes to flood. New regulations, misinterpretation of elevation certificates, inaccurate flood zone determinations, and other issues have resulted in many residents overpaying and inconvenienced.

Flood Update 2015 Program Overview

I. Flood Update (6:15-7:00 pm)
Confirm, Challenge, and Know your true flood status
Understanding a Flood Determination
Ways to lower your flood insurance premiums
Flood risk mitigation - vents, fill, grade changes, raising your home, and raising mechanicals
New laws, regulations, and maps, including Homeowners Flood Insurance Affordability Act of 2014
Removing your property from a high risk zone using a LOMA (Letter of Map Amendment)

II. Town-Hall Forum, Q&A (7:00 - 7:45 pm)
Question from the Public on Flood Related Issues. The forum will feature Q&A session with certified Floodplain Managers, as well as GIS, mitigation, and flood insurance specialists. Experts will offer mitigation strategies and advice for home owners to reduce flood insurance rates.

III. Review of Elevation Certificates (7:00-8:00 pm)
Homeowners currently paying flood insurance are encouraged to bring their Elevation Certificates for an on-the-spot free analysis to determine if they are overpaying for flood insurance AND to see if there are mitigation steps that can be taken to further lower their premiums.
