Candidates for Hightstown Council Doug Mair and Lynne Woods believe that serving the residents is a calling. We were inspired by the East Windsor GOP Candidates Hummel, Uccio and Feist who promise to refuse a salary if elected.
When considering that Hightstown has its share of volunteers and believing that service to ones own community should come from a desire to serve not to profit, we are making this promise: If elected, we will not take a salary but instead shall donate it to Hightstown Engine Company #1, Hightstown First Aid Squad and Hightstown Animal Welfare Committee.
These organizations not only support our community through action but volunteer selflessly to the cause of others. We can think of no better way to express our gratitude than to pick up their standard and do the same.
