Hightstown Democrats Submit Three Names for Vacant Council Seat

The position was left open after Dimitri Musing resigned last week.

The municipal Democratic committee in Hightstown has given the Borough Council a list of three names from which to choose its next member.

The three nominees are Gail Doran, Eugene Sarafin and Mike Vanderbeck.

The names were submitted Wednesday morning and the council now has 30 days to receive the three potential members’ resumes, interview them and choose one of them, according to Clerk Debra Sopronyi.

Whoever the council appoints will fill the seat of former Councilman Dimitri Musing until the results of the November election, after which the winner will immediately take over the position. Both Democrats and Republicans will be able to run in that general race, though neither party had submitted additional names for the election as of Wednesday morning.

Musing April 12 after he said the council waited too long to address issues of potential legal liability.
