WHO: Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey
WHAT: Walk for Brain Injury Awareness, the Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey’s annual walk program, is a fundraising and awareness event to support and advocate for the thousands of individuals affected with brain injury in New Jersey, to celebrate the achievements of people living with brain injury, and to honor those who have sustained brain injuries and cannot walk with us. Powered by dedicated volunteers, supporters, and corporate sponsors throughout New Jersey, this inspiring event helps support vital Alliance programs and services critical to enhancing their quality of life and bringing the promise of a better tomorrow. WHY: According to the New Jersey Department of Health & Senior Services’ Commission on Brain Injury Research, it is estimated that 12,000 to 15,000 New Jersey residents sustain brain injuries from traumatic events each year, of which 1,000 are fatal. Approximately 175,000 New Jersey residents currently live with disabilities from traumatic brain injuries.
