Job Search Guru - Abby Kohut - Appearing at Career Support Group (Sept. 19)

All are welcome to OPEN HOUSE CELEBRATION & Monthly Meeting --- Career Support Group at St. Gregory the Great

September 19, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. The Career Support Group at St. Gregory the Great has been in the fast lane of providing area residents with career help for more than six years. An OPEN HOUSE CELEBRATION and the launch of the group’s new name will be topped off by a very special national guest speaker -- Abby Kohut.

Abby Kohut, a.k.a Absolutely Abby, will be the presenting “Success for the Seasoned Search: The Benefit of Being Overqualified” and why that search should be music to your ears. Understanding the rationale behind the questions and knowing how to handle adversity in the interviewing process can give a candidate a distinct advantage.

The event is expected to draw a large number of attendees and is ideal for job searchers, recent graduates, those returning to work force, job holders, those seeking a promotion, or even those considering a career transition of any age. Even a young person should be prepared to hear those words “you’re overqualified” at some point in their job search.

The event is FREE and begins at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 19th. All Career Support Group meetings are open to the public and there is no cost to participate. Doors will open at 8:00 a.m. There will be an opportunity to network afterwards. The event will be held at Saint Gregory the Great Church, Parish Center (rear of parking lot), 4620 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square. All are welcome where ever your residence or denomination..

Abby will present “Success for the Seasoned Search: The Benefit of Being Overqualified.” During the session, you will learn:

  • How to answer the overqualified question
  • The REAL reason why recruiters and hiring managers are concerned about hiring overqualified applicants
  • How to change your cover letter and resume if you believe you are overqualified
  • How to handle the “age factor”
  • Seven ways to explain on an interview why being overqualified is an advantage
