Man Shot Multiple Times On Sidewalk In Mercer Co.: Prosecutor

Balil Lewis, 37, was found in the center of Middle Rose Street suffering from numerous gunshot wounds, authorities said.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — A man was found shot multiple times on the sidewalk in Trenton over the weekend, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri said Wednesday.

Just before midnight on Saturday, Sept. 16, Trenton police responded to the area of Brunswick Avenue and Middle Rose Street for multiple ShotSpotter activations.

On arrival, officers found a male Balil Lewis, 37, in a sidewalk area in the center of Middle Rose Street suffering from numerous gunshot wounds, Onofri said.

Lewis was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a few hours later, authorities said.

The Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department are investigating. No arrests have been made.
