East Windsor Community Walk Gets New Date After Nor'easter

EAST WINDSOR, NJ — The weekend nor'easter washed out East Windsor's Community Walk and Talk, but the event is back on the calendar.

Mayor Janice Mironov and the East Windsor Health Advisory Board have rescheduled the township's second Walk and Talk for 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Etra Lake Park, 9 Disbrow Hill Road, the township announced Monday.

The walk follows the Etra Lake Park Pathway, a loop of about 1 mile. Participants can walk it as many times as they like.

The event's tagline sums it up: "Take a walk. Meet your neighbors. Feel better together."

"Walk and Talk is a community wellness initiative designed to encourage physical activity, promote overall health, and strengthen connections among residents," said Health Advisory Board Chairman Jay Mermelstein and Vice Chair Antoinette Holder.

"Through a relaxed Saturday morning walk, participants are invited to enjoy a simple, accessible form of exercise while engaging in conversation, meeting neighbors, and supporting a shared commitment to community well-being," they said.

The goal, they added, is "to make health and wellness approachable for residents of all ages and abilities by encouraging regular movement, social interaction, and active participation in the East Windsor community."

The walk is part of East Windsor's participation in the Mayors Wellness Campaign, an initiative sponsored by the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute. Mironov, the Township Council, Mermelstein and Holder signed the campaign's annual pledge of participation.
