Mercer County Hosts Workshop for Entrepreneurs May 5
Residents can learn how to start their own business.

Mercer County is hosting a free program to help those who are considering starting their own business..
“Starting a Business in NJ: The Steps You Need to Take,” takes place May 5, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Lawrence Branch of the Mercer County Library, Darrah Lane. The free seminar marks an ongoing partnership with UCEDC, a non-profit economic development corporation.
“Starting a Business in NJ” will take potential business owners through the process of becoming an entrepreneur. It will dive into the many steps business owners need to take to protect themselves from potential liability, legal and tax issues. It will also provide a guide through the mechanics of starting a business.

“This is one of the many ways that we reach out to the business community here in Mercer,” Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes said. “By engaging entrepreneurs in the early stages, we can ensure a greater success rate for them and, at the same time, continue to grow our economy regionally.”

• How to name and register your business
• What taxes apply to your business and how to make sure you are set up to file them
• What’s required of your business if you have employees
• The insurance you’re required to have to operate in New Jersey
