The app was released on Tuesday.
A new iPhone and Android mobile app has been released, Mercer County Sheriff Jack Kemler said on Tuesday.
The interactive app is designed to provide critical information, including news alerts, senior citizen program information, emergency alerts, Sheriff s sale information, crime tips, inmate search, Trenton-Mercer Airport information, and the Most Wanted List, to the public in real-time on their smartphones.
The app is available to anyone free of charge from the Google Play android and Apple iTunes stores.

TheSheriffApp.com, a division of OCV, LLC, which specializes in mobile app development for sheriff s offices and public safety departments, designed the app.
“Two-thirds of U.S. adults are now smartphone users, so mobile apps offer agencies a better way to connect with the public – even during an emergency or storm, whether or not they have power,” Suzy Keenan, Communications Strategist with OCV, said. “Mobile apps and social media are setting the trend for grassroots sharing of information today and the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office is quickly becoming part of that growing trend.”

“The use of social media is evolving quickly, and we are, too,” Kemler said. “Our new mobile app will help empower the public to be our partners in public safety when fast breaking news and alerts happen.”
The “Submit a Tip” feature enables users to submit a crime tip, anonymously or with contact information, along with photos. Users can also see and share important Facebook posts from the Sheriff s Office.
The “Share Our App” feature allows users to forward alerts and download links to their friends, family, and neighbors.
“By empowering and connecting to the community, through technology and social media, the Sheriff’s Office will be able to better serve, inform, and protect our county,” Kemler said.
