Reckless Driving, Possession of Xanax: East Windsor Police Blotter

The East Windsor Police blotter, dated Aug. 17, had the following reports:

EAST WINDSOR, NJ — On Aug. 10, at 9: 20 p.m., an officer responded to Target for a report of shoplifting. Investigation revealed that a 26-year-old New Egypt resident attempted to leave the store without paying for $689.63 worth of merchandise. The individual was placed under arrest and charged on a complaint summons pending court action.

On Aug. 13, at 1:38 a.m., an officer conducted a field inquiry with an occupied vehicle that was parked with its lights on in the former Weichert Realtor parking lot. The officer found the vehicle with the engine running and the driver sleeping behind the wheel. The driver, a 40-year-old East Windsor resident, exhibited signs of impairment and was taken into custody after failing field sobriety tests. The driver was later released pending court action.

On Aug. 13 at 6:20 p.m., an officer responded to Walmart for a report of shoplifting. Investigation revealed a 42-year-old Carteret resident left the store without paying for $369.50 worth of merchandise. The man was identified and charged on a complaint summons pending court action.

On Aug. 13, at 8:34 p.m., an officer responded to ShopRite for a report of shoplifting. Investigation revealed a 25-year-old Trenton resident attempted to leave the store without paying for $484.05 worth of merchandise. The individual was placed under arrest and later released pending court action.

Aug. 13, 9:47 p.m. an officer responded to the intersection of Route 130 and Route 571 for a motor vehicle accident. Investigation revealed that the driver, a 23-year-old Hightstown resident, who was responsible for the crash, exhibited signs of impairment and was placed under arrest after failing field sobriety tests. The driver was later released pending court action.

On Aug. 15 at 2:18 a.m., an officer conducted a field inquiry with an occupied vehicle in the Days Inn parking lot. Investigation revealed the 35-year-old driver was in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. The driver also exhibited signs of impairment and was placed under arrest. The driver was charged on a complaint summons and later released pending court action.
