SciCore Academy: Reaching Academic Horizons
A brief story about a fourteen year old school based in Hightstown, New Jersey.

SciCore Academy, a private pre-K to 12 day school has been in operation for fourteen years and has successfully prepared children for college and the professional world. Through their years of teaching and observing the classroom dynamic of students and teachers, Danette and Arthur Poulos have fashioned a curriculum and formula for optimizing the academic and social enrichment of students.
Dr. and Mrs. Poulos spent several years homeschooling their children, while searching for an alternative that would provide both a safe, socially inviting, and intellectual environment that many of the local schools lacked. They eventually decided to gather their professional expertise and create a school that would fit them and their children’s needs. Dr. Poulos, who holds a PhD in organic chemistry, added a unique dimension to the school curriculum: hands-on laboratory experiments that complemented the science lesson being taught in class. The curriculum also offered the traditional courses of English, History, various levels of mathematics, and a language course.
Today, SciCore is pushing the standards of quality in education for elementary, middle, and high school grades. The students experience individual attention allowed for by the school’s exceptional teachers, who are all experts in the fields they teach. At the same time, students can enjoy an environment where they can participate in various extracurricular subjects and activities such as: logic and debate, laboratory research, percussion instruments, chess, The American Regions Mathematics league, the Science Olympiad, and the National Geographic Bee. The school also celebrates the many national holidays throughout the year with parties that have activities, food, music, and decorations that match the theme of the occasion. Additionally, SciCore holds its annual Math, Humanities, and Science fairs to show off student work and give the students a chance to work on something special to showcase their abilities and aspirations. SciCore also reaches out to international students and successfully incorporates them into the student body by providing special linguistic coaching in supplementary English and History classes. All of this together creates a unique, wholesome, and creative atmosphere for students to learn science, humanities, and the values needed to learn and live a happy life.
