See How Fast East Windsor's Population Is Growing

EAST WINDSOR, NJ — The population in East Windsor grew by 10.5 percent as more people moved into town in the past decade, according to newly released 2020 census data.

The U.S. Census Bureau on Thursday released new statistics that illustrate population changes for the nation, states, and communities down to the block level.

The data, which shows an increase in the population of the nation's metro areas compared to a decade ago, also shows population changes in smaller cities. The data represents where people were living as of April 1, 2020.

East Windsor's population in 2010 was 27, 190 which increased to 30, 045 in 2020. That is an increase of 10.5 percent or 2855 residents.

When it comes to percentage growth, Princeton leads all other New Jersey towns. It's important to note that Princeton Borough and Princeton Township officially consolidated on Jan 1, 2013, to establish its current municipality.

By the number of residents added, Jersey City leads the list with an increase of over 44, 854 from 2010 to 2020.

• Lakewood Township (45.58 percent)
• Harrison Town (42.8 percent)
• Weehawken Township (36.98 percent)
• Secaucus Town (36.38 percent)
• Wood-Ridge Borough (32.93 percent)
• Englishtown Borough (27.02 percent)
• Glassboro Borough (24.6 percent)
• Edgewater Borough (24.52 percent)
• Monroe Township (24.18 percent)

These are the top 10 fastest growing cities by the number of residents added, according to the census data:

• Jersey City (+44,852)
• Lakewood (+42,315)
• Newark (+34,409)
• Paterson City (+13,533)
• Elizabeth City (+12,329)
• Hoboken (+10,414)
• Monroe Township (+9,462)
• Bayonne City (+8,662)
• Edison Township (+7,621)

Plenty of cities in New Jersey also lost population in the decade between 2010 and 2020.

Here are the Mercer County towns ranked by percentage growth, and decrease:

• Robbinsville: 13.44 percent
• East Windsor: 10.5 percent
• West Windsor: 8.66 percent
• Pennington: 8.39
• Princeton: 7.4 percent
• Hightstown: 7.39 percent
• Trenton: 7.2 percent
• Hamilton: 4.33 percent
• Lawrenceville: -1.2
• Hopewell Borough: -0.21

Meanwhile, New Jersey grew by 513,365 residents (3.05 percent) between the 2010 and 2020 census. It ranked 26th in the nation for growth percentage.
