Tree Crashes Into Hightstown Couple's Bedroom During Blizzard: Report

The couple was asleep when the tree came down during Sunday night's historic storm.

EAST WINDSOR, NJ — A Hightstown couple got a scare Sunday night when a tree snapped in the storm and came crashing through the roof — landing right where they had been sleeping, according to media reports.

Chris and Diane Pinelli were in bed when they heard a loud bang. A tree in their backyard had cracked under the force of the blizzard's winds, sending branches through the roof in multiple places — including directly above the spot where Diane had been lying just moments before, News 12 reported.

"Diane was actually laying sideways, right there underneath that thing, and I was next to it," Chris Pinelli told News 12. "It was just total shock. It took a few minutes to gather my thoughts to figure out what was going on — it was just something you don't expect."
