2 Teens Charged After Fight At Edison Mall Over Weekend: Police

Authorities had to call for mutual aid from police in surrounding townships during the altercation, police said.

EDISON, NJ — Two teens were charged after a fight broke out at the Menlo Park Mall on Saturday, Edison Police said. No injuries were reported.

On Saturday evening around 6:30 p.m. a fight occurred at the mall, with about 20 to 30 people present, Deputy Chief Robert Dudash said.

Edison police officers on extra duty at the mall responded as did officers on patrol. Edison Police also had to call for mutual aid from police in surrounding townships, Dudash said.

Two teens were arrested and charged, police said. A 19-year-old man was charged with riot and a juvenile female was charged with riot and simple assault, Dudash said.

An hour later, another altercation took place at the mall and police responded along with a request for mutual aid. The altercation was quelled, and no arrests or injuries were reported, Dudash said.

“During that time, reports began circulating on social media that a stabbing had taken place. It’s not true,” Dudash said.

"We are working with mall management to ensure the safety of all patrons at the mall.”
