4-Vehicle Collision In Edison Kills 1, Shuts Down Route 1

One person was killed Monday morning in Edison after a car ran a red-light and caused a multi-vehicle accident.

EDISON, NJ —One person was killed Monday morning in a four-vehicle collision, the Edison Police Department reports.

Just before 9:45 a.m. Monday, a vehicle was heading southbound on Route 1 ran a red light near the intersection with Parsonage Road, resulting in a four-car pileup, EPD Lt. Robert Dudash told Patch. One driver was killed, but no other drivers sustained life-threatening injuries, Dudash said.

A large portion of Route 1 southbound was closed from 9:45 a.m. until about 2 p.m., Dudash said.
