5 Families Displaced, No Injuries In Edison Fire: Deputy Chief
Firefighters helped some families recover what belongings they could Monday, after the fire at Parsonage Road Village apartments.

EDISON, NJ — Five families' apartments were destroyed in a fire Friday evening and six others will have to wait several weeks to go home, an Edison fire official said.
No one was injured at the fire at the Parsonage Road Village apartments, Deputy Chief Andrew Toth said. One resident lost everything, he said.
Firefighters got the first call at 5:30 p.m. Friday and found the building fully involved, Toth said. The fire was elevated to a third alarm, and all fire companies from Edison responded, he said.

Toth said the cause of the fire is undetermined right now, and that the Fire Marshal is investigating.
He said several schoolchildren lost their homes, and Edison Township Public Schools are working with their families.

"It's not just the fire, it's also all the moving parts and figuring out where they'll go," he said, adding that he and the firefighters have been helping the families look for passports and car keys inside their ruined homes.
"We had firefighters helping them carry out belongings today," Toth said Monday.
