EDISON, NJ - A woman wanted by the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office on an aggravated assault charge was nabbed in Ohio after fleeing New Jersey following a stabbing, federal authorities said.
Dawn Burge, 36, was taken into custody Wednesday by members of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force — Lorain Division, at a business in the 500 block of Griswold Road in Elyria, Ohio.
Burge was wanted in connection with a June 29, 2025 domestic dispute on Morgan Drive in Edison in which a man suffered stab wounds, according to the release. An investigation by law enforcement determined Burge's involvement and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
Members of the U.S. Marshals-led New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force subsequently developed information that Burge had fled New Jersey and was living in Lorain County, Ohio. The task force requested assistance from the Northern Ohio unit, which tracked her down following multiple interviews and investigative leads.
Burge was taken to the Lorain County Jail, where she will be held pending extradition to New Jersey.
"The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force will not stand for violent fugitives fleeing from other states to our communities," U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said in a statement. “We have a strong presence in all our counties that we cover and we will track down and arrest these fugitives.”
