EDISON, NJ — Middlesex County and The Sports Facilities Companies (SFC) have named Edison native Katie Eskin as General Manager of NEXUS, the new sports and entertainment district under construction in Edison.
Eskin, identified through a national executive search, will oversee operations across the NEXUS complex, including a new stadium with adjacent plaza, NEXUS Fields at Thomas A. Edison Park, and a full-service restaurant inside the new Middlesex College Student Center. She brings nearly two decades of leadership experience in professional sports and live events, including roles with Harris Blitzer Sports and Entertainment, Madison Square Garden and IMG, where she worked with organizations such as the New Jersey Devils, Prudential Center, Philadelphia 76ers and Washington Commanders.
A current Edison resident, Eskin grew up playing youth sports in the county, including at Thomas A. Edison Park, before playing NCAA Division I softball at Marist College.
"NEXUS represents far more than a destination — it reflects our belief that Middlesex County should continue leading by investing in places that create opportunity, strengthen community, and inspire future generations," Middlesex County Commissioner Director Ronald G. Rios said in a statement. He added that Eskin's local ties and industry experience make her "an outstanding fit" for the role.
"It's incredibly exciting and humbling to return home and help lead a project of this scale," Eskin said. "I grew up here and experienced firsthand how sports and community spaces can shape people's lives."
Eskin's appointment follows the county's previously announced partnership with SFC, which will manage day-to-day operations, maintenance, scheduling and programming at NEXUS. The project is part of Middlesex County's Community, Innovation, and Opportunity (CIO) Strategic Investment Plan, which has also brought a steel beam signing ceremony and groundbreakings for an innovation magnet school, a multipurpose community venue and the Middlesex College Student Center.
NEXUS is slated to open this fall. More information is available at nexusnj.com.
