EDISON, NJ — Firefighters responded to a working fire at the Rivendell Apartment Complex on Wednesday after reports of smoke coming from the eaves of the building, according to Edison Firefighters Association.
B Shift units — Engines 4, 6, and 2, Truck 1, Rescue 4, and Car 8 — were among the first-arriving companies, which discovered an active fire in a second-floor apartment of the two-story residential building, authorities said.
A second alarm was requested to bring in additional manpower and resources due to the active fire conditions.
Firefighters operated in extremely challenging conditions, with temperatures well above 90 degrees, while conducting fire attack, search, ventilation, and overhaul operations, authorities said.
The fire was brought under control, and crews checked adjacent apartments for extension to ensure it had not spread beyond the original unit.
Mutual aid departments provided coverage throughout the town while Edison crews remained committed to the incident.
